Yamal 7.5, Lewandowski 3: Barcelona player ratings in Monaco defeat
Barcelona suffered a 3-0 defeat against Monaco in the Joan Gamper Trophy at Montjuic. Here is how we rated the players.
Yamal: 7.5/10. Immediate game-changing impact. Barca began looking like Barca after the 17-year-old came on. Showed that Flick can count on him from the beginning of the season.
Raphinha: 6.5. Dangerous on the left-hand side, biggest Barca threat in the first half. Less of a threat after the break.
Ter Stegen: 6.5. Excellent save in the middle of the first half. No fault in conceded goals.
Kounde: 6.5. Threatening going forward but sometimes left too much space for the opposition at the back.
Balde: 6.5. Made several good runs, decent in tackle as well.
Casado: 6. Solid defensively. Tried inventive forward passes a few times but could have done better creativity-wise.
Bernal: 5. Great at circulating the ball in the middle, gives Busquets vibes. Made a huge mistake leading to Monaco’s opening goal.
Dominguez: 5. Fell asleep when Embolo made a run for the second goal.
Gerard Martin: 4. Basically created Monaco’s third goal, first vacating his position on the left and then providing an ‘assist’ for Mawissa.
Victor: 3. Wasted an excellent chance in the first minute of the game – and then an even better one in the middle of the second half. Good movement but not clinical in front of goal.
Lewandowski: 3. Selfish on a few occasions. Could have been much more involved, looked like a ghost on the Montjuic pitch.
