ABOUT NEWSJOB24

About NewsJob24

A launch-edition career portal for journalism and media work.

NewsJob24 is a career portal and career-news site for people who work in journalism and media: reporters, producers, editors, photographers, audio and video makers, data and fact-checking specialists, newsletter writers and newsroom leaders. This is a launch edition. It shows what the finished service is meant to look like, using clearly labelled sample content, while the real thing is built.

What this site is for

Finding work in news is harder than it should be. Listings are scattered, pay ranges are often missing, and the language of job titles differs from one newsroom to the next. NewsJob24 aims to gather opportunities in one place, describe them plainly and add the practical guidance that people need to apply well: how to build a portfolio, how to read a listing, how to pitch as a freelancer, and how to ask the right questions before accepting an offer.

What exists today

  • Sample listings from fictional newsrooms, organised by beat, working mode and contract type.
  • Profiles of fictional newsrooms and studios that show how employer pages will look.
  • Career Wire, a growing set of explainers on hiring, craft, freelancing and pay.
  • Saved jobs, a simple profile and search that run entirely inside your browser.
  • Reference pages on salaries, grants and freelance work that explain how to think about each topic.

What is coming later

Real employer listings, applications, job alerts, and a daily digest are not live yet. When they launch, each will be announced on this site and in the pages that describe how they work. Until then, any button that suggests otherwise is a placeholder, and we have tried to label them honestly.

Why the sample content is fictional

Every employer you see here is invented, as are the salary ranges, perks and locations. We chose fictional organisations so that nobody is misrepresented and so that visitors cannot mistake a demonstration for a real vacancy. Where we describe how real hiring tends to work, we do so in general terms and avoid attaching claims to real companies, people or figures.

Who is behind it

NewsJob24 is produced by a small desk working under the editorial standards described on the Editorial Standards page. We do not publish biographies or headcounts for this launch edition. If you want to reach us, the Contact page lists the email addresses used for general questions, corrections, employer enquiries and privacy requests.

How to help

If you work in a newsroom and would like to be told when posting opens, use the employer interest form. If you are a journalist, tell us which guides would help you most. If you spot a mistake, we want to hear about it, and we will correct it openly.
